About Community Transport

The Service

Our busy service has a wonderful team of volunteer drivers from across North Herts and Stevenage who use their own cars in their free time. All of our drivers are paid a mileage rate to cover the distance they travel. The scheme has public liability insurance and all drivers are enhanced DBS checked.

Who are our Volunteer Drivers?

Our drivers are from all walks of life, some are retired, some work, and some are parents with children at school.

All have varied backgrounds and interests and enjoy helping others.

All our volunteer drivers have an enhanced DBS check. We obtain the appropriate references and each driver carries out a thorough induction prior to commencing their role with us.

Who are our clients?

The service is aimed at individuals who are unable to use other methods of passenger transport due to age, frailty, impaired mobility, disabilities and special needs. It may also be due to no alternative transport being available.
 
We can also support people with mental health struggles who are looking to access a reliable and friendly transport service.

Anybody using a wheelchair must be able to self-transfer from their wheelchair to the car, or must take a relative or friend to assist them. Wheelchairs must be collapsible.
